With minimalsim being “the new black”, everyone’s opting for a less is more approach to fashion and I share with you my guide to developing this aesthetic.

The following tips are aimed at creating a less is more look which can later result in developing a less is more style.

  1. Go With A Neutral Colour Scheme: Choose one colour and wear pieces in different shades of that colour. Black, white and grey are often shades to oft for but incorporating a pop of colour, speaks on behalf of your personality. Using white as your base tone / statement piece and creating your look around that is also quite appealing. Alternatively you can just opt for a play on monochrome (like I did with this look).
  2. Avoid Wearing Too Many Items: Too many items could change the overall vision / theme and will be irrelevant to creating a less is more look in the first place. You can get away with simple layering of an outerwear or two while having all of the items in solid colours (still keeping the first tip in mind).
  3. Keep Accessories Simple And To A Minimum: It is the small (even small statement) accessories that will make the simplistic aesthetic evident. It won’t be as overpowering as bulkier accessories. This allows for your clothes to stand out – especially if you’ve incorporated a statement piece in your outfit with your clothes – while the jewellery simply add some details. And remember, even though you’re wearing simple accessories, avoid over accessorising.
The less is more approach leans to very plain and simple dressing – simple shirt, great pants and your favorite pair of shoes.
