Instagram is one of the biggest social networks to date and it has become one of the top places for inspiration. Therefore it is no surprise that this is where the people who influence my style can be found.
For years now I have been reinventing my style to find one that truly suits me. After going back and forth so many times, I have finally come up with what I refer to as “over the top minimalism” – my style is a combination of minimalist and over the top dressing.
I love how I managed to combine two contradicting styles with one another.
Raging from minmalists to “eeextra” fashionistas, it is clearly evident that the handful of creatives listed below indirectly contributes to my aesthetic.
INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS THAT INFLUENCE MY STYLE
- Aqeelah Harron Ally (@fashionbreed)
Aqeelah is a digital fashion, beauty and travel girl boss from Cape Town and she was one of the first bloggers I followed when I started my blogging journey. Her style didn’t really resonate with me back then but over the last two years she had a really big impact on my style, especially where pants are concerned. Even though she dabbles in a minimalistic approach to fashion every now and then, Aqeelah generally has this whole “extra” aesthetic that influenced me to channel my over the top side.
- Prime Obsession (@primeobsession)
Prime obsession is a clothing brand owned by @keneilwe_mothoa and @shelleymokoena – who also happens to be favourites of mine. What draws me to this brand is their exaggerative silhouettes and eccentric pieces. The clothes are outstandingly unusual but so wearable; if you get what I’m saying … If I am not over at their feed for outfit inspiration, I am lurking for new, super creative pose ideas for my photo shoots.
- Rebecca Arendse (@theminimaleblogger)
Rebecca, who also happens to be another local gal, is an effortless minimalist style content creator, journalist and photographer. She is fixated on minimalism and is always serving simple but dope monochrome looks. I discovered her on facebook but it was her instagram that gave me major feels. I find myself there every day. Rebecca has increased my love for monochrome ensembles, inspires most of my occasional minimalist looks and influenced the development of my capsule wardrobe.
- Sara Campton (@harperandharley)
Sara is a fashion and beauty blogger who doubles as the co-founder of The Undone Store, all the way from Australia. I’ve been following Sara since the debut of the E! hit series, Fashion Bloggers. She is my go-to girl for “less is more” outfit combinations. I love how she mostly wear black, grey and white but differently every time. Another thing about Sara that keeps me coming back for more is how she effortlessly pairs basic wardrobe items with over the top statement pieces.
- Zenobia Lazarovici (@neoandlime)
Zenobia is a Romanian photographer, stylist and blogger. Her instagram was a recent find and I’ve been hooked ever since. For me her style is so unconventional but so relatable! I’ve also noticed her frequent compilations of layered ensembles which is something I am quite fond of. To sum it up, Zenobia’s style is somewhat editorial for me.
That wraps up my favourite five and because I’d love to know who influence’s your style, go to my latest instagram post and tag them in the comments.
