Day to day dressing have never been easier with wardrobe staples.

Wardrobe staples serves as the foundation for your wardrobe and you can use the items to literally put together any look. You can dress it down or dress it up. Even casual pieces, paired with the right items, can be worn for (more) formal settings and vice versa.

All my money goes to clothes but here I am sitting on my bed, opposite my cupboard, thinking of what I am going to wear when I know damn well that I am going to choose from the same five t-shirts I always wear. I am sure that you can relate that scenario right?

Should you invest in wardrobe staples, then that will no longer be the case. Now in no way or form, am I trying to discourage you from buying new, trending clothes. That is just the best part about wardrobe staples – you can pair up your staples with the haute pieces from the season.

For this post I have compiled a list of ten items that you should acquire accompanied by a dressed up and dressed down outfit for that specific item. I also took the liberty of creating a look that includes some of the following (mentioned) pieces.

TEN BASIC WARDROBE MUST HAVES

1) TRENCH COATS

2) DENIM JACKETS

3) BASIC WHITE T-SHIRT

4) CLASSIC WHITE SHIRT

5) LITTLE BLACK DRESS

6) DENIM JEANS (SKINNY, STRAIGHT CUT, BOOTLEG, ETC)

7) FORMAL BLACK PANTS

8) LOW CUT SNEAKERS

9) BLACK COURT SHOES / STILETTOS

10) ANKLE BOOTS

ABOUT THIS LOOK

The goal here was to create a casual look consisting of wardrobe staples. I paired my basic white t-shirt with (frayed) denim jeans and stacked sneakers. For a pop of colour (and to compliment the colour of the print on my t-shirt) I put on a maroon velvet p-cap. Also … velvet is hot this season and this was my way of incorporating a trending piece with my staples. I added the denim jacket to polish off the whole look.

I specifically chose the pieces that I did to create this look because I feel it is more versatile. And that is exactly what wardrobe staples should be – versatile! What I also did was opt for pieces that have a more modern approach to it but will not necessarily become “outdated.”

Would you like to see more of these posts? I look forwarding to hearing from you, so start the conversation in the comments and let me know what you think. As always, if you feel that you have a look that is complimentary / similar to the one I created, share it on facebook or instagram using the hashtag #fashioninspowithlukeindia.
